| The Barbara F. Wood Extra Mile Award
The Barbara F. Wood Extra Mile Award annual award honors a direct
care support person who consistently goes the extra mile to ensure
positive outcomes in the lives of consumers. The award winner will
receive a plaque as well as a cash award. This is a great chance
for all of us to recognize true excellence in our field.
To submit a name for the 2006 Award print out the nomination form and submit it to Lisa Morgan.

Sandra Segars, Dekalb Community Service Board was last years
winner
Ms. Segars has been working in the field of Developmental Disabilities
for almost 20 years, 8 1/2 of them at the DeKalb Services Center.
She previously worked at Brook Run and in the school system in Florida.
At the DeKalb Services Center, Ms. Segars works with individuals
that need the most physical support in our program and through her
daily efforts, individuals with limited movement are encouraged
to be as independent as physically possible. Ms Segars makes sure
that they receive encouragement, exercise, training on activities
of daily living and real opportunities for community integration.
By the way, her group, with assistance, makes the best brownie sundies
EVER!!! In Ms. Segars spare time, she works with individuals with
physical and developmental disabilities in the evening hours to
promote continued training opportunities. Through her work, she
is committed to helping allow family members to keep their children
at home. Ms. Segars goes above and beyond...she ALWAYS goes the
EXTRA MILE.
